The people in this world have their own customs, religions, mythos. It seems to be set in an equivalent of WW1 Ottoman Empire (I’ve played Battlefield 1, I know :P) but with magic! In my opinion this setting works and the author gave it enough detail in order to become its own thing. So in terms of setting and atmosphere this book is quite interesting.
